Newsletter for TRILITY Group and Joint Venture clients

Welcome

Dear valued clients and partners,

On behalf of the TRILITY Group, we wish you and your families a safe

and very happy festive season. We also want to take this opportunity to

thank you for another successful year.

For many businesses, 2024 commenced with the aftermath of the prior

year’s floods, continuing supply issues, talent acquisition, retention, and

re/upskilling staff to meet a more digitised future. Cyber vulnerability,

the challenges and benefits of employees working remotely, digital

transformation and optimisation, and the challenge of how to extract

organisational value from it. TRILITY embraced these and we are, once

again, ending the year on a high.

As the year ends and we prepare for the New Year, we typically wrap up

the year’s activities, reflect, plan strategic initiatives for the coming year,

and celebrate our accomplishments. Our reflections revealed another

year of excellent service delivery, growth, and many positive learnings.

For example, in 2024, the Upper South Creek project is progressing

well despite challenging weather conditions throughout the year;

we completed several varied Modular Solutions projects nationwide

and are proud to be moving from the Reflect stage into the Innovate

stage of our RAP of our reconciliation journey.

In this edition of our year-end TRILITY e-newsletter, we deep-dive into

what makes TRILITY a partner of choice. We have an update on the

Upper South Creek Advanced Water Recycling Centre and a video

showcasing the magnificent work being done by our Modular Solutions

engineering team for this project. We also feature some insights into

our ‘future leaders’ group and our drive to open communications around

mental health and the diversification of our business across our Solutions

arm, TRILITY Training, and TRILITY Water Consultancy Services.

This year’s success, as in prior years, is due to the dedication and focus of

our wonderful employees and the special relationships we have built over

the years. TRILITY is where it is today with you, our clients, and partners.

Our growth journey will continue during 2025, making for exciting times.

Our learnings include better ways to work, communicate, and deliver

services. In the coming year, we look forward to increased opportunities

to meet with our employees and clients in person across New Zealand

and Australia.

From the entire TRILITY team, it’s been a privilege to work with you

and the communities we serve, and we look forward to working with

you again in 2025.

Investing in the future of TRILITY

TRILITY’s Future Leaders Group (FLG) was created with the specific aim of

fostering the development of TRILITY’s younger staff members and those

new to the industry. Members of the group have access to a dedicated hub

with resources, updates and seamless interaction, promoting a dynamic and

engaged community within the FLG.

The FLG aims to be self-sustainable, holding regular meetings and updates

to ensure continuous momentum. Moreover, the group will actively prioritise

and nominate key issues with the hopes of fostering a dynamic and responsive

approach to addressing challenges and opportunities within the company.

TRILITY has outlined specific objectives for the FLG, including the creation

of a distinct cohort with a unique identity, the development of newer staff

members, progression in their careers, the provision of development

opportunities, and long-term talent retention within the company.

Future Leaders Group (L - R): Dr. Luong Nguyen, Benat Saju, Matt Dawson (Guest speaker), Karl Humphreys, Max Curtis (Co-chair), James Ridd,

Elyssa Kirton, Helen Thompson (Co-chair), Mitch Turton, Dr. Emily Quek (Sponsor), Callan Kudra-Harding, Roohullah Qalandari, Ben Childs, Jarred

Svic, Edison Jose, Flora Zhuang, Francois Gouws (Guest speaker), Bronwyn van der Zant (Sponsor), Jerome West

July saw the inaugural in-person workshop for the FLG, which took place over

two days at the TRILITY Head Office in Adelaide. The workshop gave members

the opportunity to meet one another face-to-face and hear from some senior

members of TRILITY’s Leadership Team. Throughout the workshop, members

were able to take the time to set professional goals for both the group and

individual members, as well as discuss how Future Leaders can contribute to

the future of TRILITY.

Conversation starter around mental health

What started as an idea from one of our young technicians to support mental

health awareness in our sector, soon expanded in a way that provided us with

a dual gesture in support of mental health and further promoted our

reconciliation journey.

After seeking permission from our talented First Nations artist David Booth

to use our RAP artwork, TRILITY partnered with TradeMutt to develop a

‘FunkyShirtFriday’ shirt to promote change in the culture surrounding mental

health. We deliberately incorporated our reconciliation artwork into the shirt to

further encourage conversation about our design and support our commitment

to our journey for reconciliation across our organisation and sector.

Our people have embraced and are proudly wearing our ‘FunkyShirtFriday’ shirts.

They are a real conversation starter, allowing us to show our commitment to

talking openly about mental health and our journey to reconciliation.

Our Modular Solutions Manager Glen Zipf said,

“I stopped at a local roadside coffee

stall this morning; on the way in, the lady

serving said to me, “I love your shirt;

what’s that all about?” and there you go,

boom, the conversation started.”

Sydney Water’s world-class water recycling centre

project update

The Upper South Creek Advanced Water Recycling Centre (AWRC) is now one

year into construction from its commencement. A great deal of progress has

been made, and we’d like to share some of the key activities to date.

Throughout 2024, the project has seen many weather challenges. For example,

the images below vividly depict the aftermath of a single rain event in March.

Despite the site being inundated with water due to a 300mm rainfall over 48

hours, the construction team, led by John Holland, demonstrated its resilience.

Within two days, they had managed to mitigate the water’s impact and

resume full-scale construction.

Overflow channel, which is required should the plant suffer flows well

above the treatment capacity during operation.

300mm rain event over a 48 hour period

The one kilometre access road that leads into the AWRC site (beside the new

M12 that’s currently under construction) has been completed, and following

consultation with the project’s First Nations stakeholders, has been named,

Badu Muru Grove. Pronounced ‘Bar-doo Moo-roo’, it means ‘Fresh water Path’

in Dharug language.

The project’s First Nations stakeholders also chose new a Dharug name for

the AWRC, which will be announced when the facility is commissioned in

2025. In addition to the site and road names, three Dharug language names

were chosen for the meeting rooms located in the operation area of the site.

July 2023

September 2024

These names have already been used for the three meeting rooms currently

located at the temporary construction compound. The intention is to transfer

the names across to the permanent meeting rooms when construction is

completed. The chosen names are:

Meeting Room 1: Cabro - Pronounced ‘Cab-row’, it means Shipworm, which is

a shellfish eaten by the local Cabrogal people of the Dharug Nation.

Meeting Room 2: Dyirrabidy - Pronounced ‘Dhi-rah-bidge’, it means Red-belly

black snake, which acknowledges the presence of the red belly black snake that

is native to the area.

Meeting Room 3: Bunda - Pronounced ‘Bún-da’, it means Hobby kite,

which acknowledges the presence of the hobby kite bird which is also native

to the area.

Building on this positive engagement with First Nations stakeholders, TRILITY

Communications, John Holland, and Sydney Water will form a working group in

2025 to create a Dharug cultural display in the site’s administration building to

further promote the awareness and understanding of Dharug language, culture

and country.

The images below show the progress from the green fields starting July 2023

through to September 2024 and provide a visual update on the plant’s

construction progress.

Significant strides are evident, with the mechanical and electrical fit-out

commencing soon and the compound car park being extended to

accommodate the growing site staff.

Substantial progress has been made on the pipe runs, which are running in parallel with the plant construction. This simultaneous activity underscores the

project’s efficient management and instils confidence in the team’s ability to handle multiple tasks as we all work toward the project’s timely completion.

Meanwhile, our TRILITY Modular Solutions Yatala division has been busy putting the finishing touches on the 19 chemical dosing skids they have assembled for

the AWRC.

TRILITY is proud to partner with Sydney Water and its consortium partners John Holland, GHD, and Jacobs on the AWRC. When completed, the facility, located

between Kemps and South Creek, will support population and economic growth in Western Sydney and deliver sustainable wastewater services and high-quality

recycled water to support a cooler, greener Western Parkland City, which will benefit the entire community.

TRILITY’s reconciliation journey

We have taken our reconciliation journey very seriously, so we extended the ‘Reflect’ stage of our Reconciliation Action Plan process longer than Reconciliation

Australia requires. We did this because we wanted to ensure that reconciliation formed part of our DNA and was not something we had to do.

So now, three years after launching our first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), TRILITY is in the final stages of finishing its Innovate RAP.

TRILITY’s Innovate RAP plan builds on the solid foundation of our Reflect RAP and provides a platform for future reconciliation initiatives. As we progress on our

journey of reconciliation through the four successive RAPs (Reflect, Innovate, Stretch, and Elevate), we will remain committed to turning our good intentions into

actions and establishing a solid approach to advancing reconciliation both internally and within TRILITY’s sphere of influence.

TRILITY’s Innovate RAP will outline our initiatives to develop meaningful relationships with and create sustainable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait

Islander Peoples. It also formalises and strengthens TRILITY’s ongoing commitment to fostering more robust connections. Additionally, our Innovate RAP builds

on several established initiatives and partnerships we have developed on our ongoing journey to reconciliation.

Our Innovative RAP was crafted by our dedicated RAP Working Group, a team of passionate Aboriginal and non-Indigenous members committed to advancing

our reconciliation journey. TRILITY would like to acknowledge their hard work and dedication. They are our RAP champions who will ensure our agreed actions

are successfully implemented.

We look forward to sharing our Innovate RAP publicly once Reconciliation Australian has endorsed it.

TRILITY Modular Solutions completes

refurbishment project in Western Australia

In January, TRILITY Modular Solutions completed the Safety Chemical

Dosing Equipment Refurbishment project for a Water Treatment Plant in

Western Australia.

To improve operation of the plant, the project entailed the design,

manufacturing and installation of:

a new sodium hydroxide (caustic) dosing skid

new instruments on the sodium hydroxide storage tank including

-

a new hydro-static level instrument

-

a magnetic level gauge to improve the efficiency of operating

the site

Sodium Hydroxide Unloading Panel

What made this job unique was that the team completed the on-site

construction and commissioning phase of the project with no interruption

to the water treatment plant or the end customer. The temporary dosing

arrangement was a combined effort between TRILITY and the client which

was successful in keeping the plant operational while the upgrade projects

were installed and commissioned.

An outstanding effort by everyone involved.

TRILITY Modular

Solutions provides

drinking water in regional

New South Wales

In early 2024, TRILITY was approached to address a crucial need in

a small regional Indigenous community in NSW. The potable water in this

community had very low chlorine levels because it was pumped from a

distant neighbouring town. By the time the water reached the community,

it had lost its chlorine residual, posing significant health risks.

To solve this, TRILITY designed and installed a modular sodium

hypochlorite dosing facility midway along the treated water main. This

strategic placement ensured that chlorine residual requirements were

consistently met, providing safe and clean drinking water for the community.

The project was not just about engineering; it was about improving

the quality of life and ensuring the health and safety of the local

community. Through this project, TRILITY is helping to protect against

waterborne diseases and contributing to a healthier, more sustainable

future for the local community.

It’s projects like these that remind us of the critical role that

infrastructure and engineering play in public health. TRILITY is proud

of the Modular solutions team for the dedication and expertise that

they brought to this project.

and dosing system

Earlier this year, TRILITY Modular Solutions completed the construction and

commissioning of an OSEC®L On-Site Hypochlorite generation and dosing

system for a council client in northwest- Queensland, who is responsible for

the provision of water and sewerage services to their local region.

The project entailed the decommissioning of the existing chlorine gas dosing

system and the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of a new

modular building incorporating the OSEC®L system from Evoqua Water

Technologies and dosing skid from TRILITY.

The system was designed with several key features that made it an ideal choice

for the client’s operational requirements. This system is eco-friendly, producing

chlorine on-site with just salt, water, and electricity, eliminating hazardous

chemical transport. This on-site system was a good choice as it is:

Cost-effective by reducing chemical purchases and storage

Highly efficient with consistent chlorine production

User-friendly as it requires minimal maintenance for a hassle-free operation

TRILITY worked in collaboration with the client to ensure enhanced water

quality and compliance in accordance with industry standards.
